The Pupil Premium Grant (PPG) is funding provided for schools, which is additional to main school funding. The Grant is designed to help boost the progress and attainment of disadvantaged pupils and reduce the gap between the lowest and highest achievers. At Turners Hill CofE Primary School, we aim to provide opportunities for pupils that enable them to play an active role in the twenty-first century. Pupils have full access to and experience of the curriculum regardless of race, age, gender, disability, religion and belief. The school promotes a sense of self-esteem, responsibility and tolerance in young people. It values and challenges the individual so that they achieve the highest levels of attainment and progress whatever their starting point. The Pupil Premium Grant is therefore a key resource for ensuring the realisation of this inclusive and aspirational ethos. The nature of the issue makes it essential that personalised, rather than blanket support is provided for students. We recognise that not all students who receive free school meals will be socially disadvantaged or underachieving. We also recognise that not all students who are socially disadvantaged are registered or qualify for free school meals. We therefore reserve the right to allocate the Pupil Premium funding to support any individual the school has legitimately identified as being socially disadvantaged. The Pupil Premium Grant is paid for pupils who are: recorded as being eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) in the last 6 years, Children who are Looked After (CLA) or who have parents in the armed forces. How does it work and do you qualify?
